Social Security Hearings

Are Social Security Hearings Required?

Disability Hearings, while not required in all social security claims, are an important part of the disability approval process. A hearing is required if you'd like to appeal after your request for reconsideration was denied.

The hearing will be presided over by an administrative law judge, who will decide the outcome of your case.  There may also be a doctor present, along with a vocational expert.  The doctor and the vocational expert are there to help the judge in determining whether you are truly disabled. It will be very important to be able to answer all questions honestly and with confidence.  Although the hearing will not last very long, the results are incredibly important, and will have an effect on many areas of your life.  It's important to get it right.

Do I Need A Lawyer At The Social Security Hearing?

Many social security applicants wonder whether they really need a lawyer at their disability hearing. The honest answer is yes.  No amount of personal research, advice from friends, doctors or family can replace the years of training and experience that an honest-to-goodness Social Security Attorney can bring to your case.  Statistics show that a higher percentage of cases that are represented by a qualified social security lawyer are approved than those who go to the hearing without a lawyer.
