Qui Tam/Whistleblower Litigation
Federal law prohibits the submission of false or fraudulent claims for payment to the Federal Government. Under the False Claims Act individual, private citizens who are aware of efforts by companies or individuals to defraud the government may sue on the government's behalf. That person then has the oppurtunity to share in the proceeds of the suit. Citizens who bring these causes of action are called qui tam relators or whistleblowers. Successful qui tam actions have been brought involving defense contractors and other governmental agencies such as Health and Human Services, Environment, Energy, Education, NASA, Agriculture and Transportation with recoveries as high as $500-$750 million.
Our firm has served as counsel on some of these successful cases. We have an in-depth understanding of the complicated federal statutory scheme that controls qui tam litigation. More importantly, we have a track record of success at marshalling the massive amounts of documentary and other evidence involved in the pursuit of such claims, and we know how to see these cases through verdict and conclusion.
